With Council of Ministers Decision No. 2014/5938 published in the Official Gazette on March 15, 2014, the 11,908 m² land within Balıkesir University Çağış Campus was declared as "Technology Development Zone". Balıkesir University Technology Development Zone Management Inc., which is responsible for the management and operation of the Technology Development Zone or Technopark, was established on August 31, 2015.

The foundation of the Technopark building was laid in April 2018 and the construction was completed in August 2019 with support from the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Project applications from companies have been accepted since October 2019.
