The Balıkesir Defense Industry Ecosystem Consultation Meeting was held under the coordination of the South Marmara Development Agency (GMKA). During the meeting, Balıkesir’s potential in the defense industry, collaboration opportunities, and the development of the ecosystem were discussed. In their opening remarks, GMKA Secretary General Onur Adıyaman, Provincial Director of Industry and Technology Mehmet Şafak, and President of the Balıkesir Chamber of Commerce Rahmi Kula emphasized the need to strengthen employment and economic contribution by expanding production capacity, fostering clustering, and acting jointly in project development.

Representing Balıkesir Technopark, our General Manager Burcu Aydemir provided information about the nine companies within our Technopark that are developing defense-oriented projects, and shared potential areas of collaboration aimed at positioning Balıkesir more strongly within the defense industry value chain. In this first consultation meeting, the main outlines of the roadmap for the upcoming period were established.
